Photographer Julie Kenny, has been having a great year. Most recently, her ‘Tree of Life’ image was a selected finalist in the botanical category of the 2022 Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year. The competition received a record 2,443 photographs entered by 602 photographers from 10 countries this year.
The Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year exhibition will be open to the public from Saturday 27 August 2022 at the South Australian Museum in Adelaide, and also at the Australian Museum in Sydney from 17 September 2022. Details of prizewinners will be published in the September-October 2022 edition of Australian Geographic.
Reflecting on her image, Julie noted,
‘from above the surrounding sheep tracks combined with the fallen tree reminded me of the Tree of Life. While the aerial perspective focuses on the earth, you can see the pooled water in the sheep tracks reflecting the blue of the sky. While this fallen tree represents many different things, for me it communicates the interconnection of all things, beginnings and endings, the cycling of life’.
Julie’s images, including the Tree of Life, are now available in a larger A3 size. Her recent Exmouth and coral coast photographs of pristine beaches, rugged limestone cliffs, migrating whales and basking stingrays are available for purchase in store now.
