The Willy Wagtail is an iconic Australian bird. When a Willie Wagtail crosses your path they bring good luck and messages. They are known in indigenous culture to carry messages from spirits- often a loved one checking in on you.
Pyrography literally means “writing with fire”. Dallas’s work involves linework, shading and textures hand drawn with a woodburning pen and sometimes colour is added for effect. She is inspired by nature – our beautiful Australian birds, animals and plants.
Pyrography has given her a great respect for the organic beauty of wood and stirs all the senses – the feel, texture, smell and character of wood. Being such an organic art form, it is a perfect medium for creatively capturing our natural environment.
