Red North Mole Lighthouse Original Painting by Laura Farnhill
Approx. 38cm x 38cm x 6cm
Acrylic on canvas.
Framed.
The North Mole Lighthouse stands at the entrance to Fremantle Harbour in Western Australia and has been guiding vessels since 1906. Built as part of the historic harbour works led by engineer C. Y. O’Connor, it sits at the end of the long North Mole breakwater and marks the western side of the port entrance.
Its simple red cast-iron structure has become an enduring maritime landmark, working in tandem with the green South Mole Light on the opposite side. Together they guide ships safely into the inner harbour, continuing more than a century of service to Fremantle’s busy port.
Today, the lighthouse remains an iconic feature of the coastline and a familiar sight for those walking the breakwater or watching ships move through the harbour entrance.
Working both acrylic’s and oil’s, Laura’s work is characterised by bold colours and attention to detail.
