Laura Farnhill
Laura Farnhill is a Perth-based artist whose work celebrates the beauty, nostalgia and character of Western Australia.
Growing up in Perth, Laura developed a lifelong connection to the ocean. Family holidays to Rottnest Island and countless weekends spent at Cottesloe Beach and Hillarys Boat Harbour created many of her happiest childhood memories. “I would spend hours as a child at Cottesloe Beach and Hillarys Boat Harbour on the weekends.” Those experiences continue to inspire her work today, drawing her back to the turquoise waters, white sandy beaches and relaxed coastal lifestyle that make Western Australia so special.
Exhibiting since the age of eighteen, Laura has been painting for more than twenty years. Her detailed artworks capture the places, landmarks and memories that connect people to home. Whether painting a breathtaking stretch of coastline, a historic Fremantle streetscape, a train station, street sign or an iconic local landmark, Laura seeks to find beauty in both the extraordinary and the everyday.
Laura has also painted large-scale wall murals for private homes, gardens, cafés and restaurants throughout Western Australia, bringing vibrant, custom artwork to both residential and commercial spaces.
Known for her love of fine detail, Laura often becomes so immersed in painting that hours pass unnoticed. Her work is inspired by the ever-changing colours, reflections and movement of the Western Australian coastline, as well as the unique architecture and character found throughout Perth and beyond.
Also a qualified Art Therapist and founder of Art Box Creative Therapies, Laura combines creativity and emotional wellbeing to support children and families through the power of art.
