THE ARTISAN STORE FREMANTLE
SOME of us leave the urge to create behind in childhood but fortunately there are many who continue to pursue their creative mission such as the artists whose work is displayed at the Artisan Store Fremantle. Creativity comes in many forms from painting to choreography, sculpture to cake decorating. It can be an opportunity to play and experiment, to explore a theme, to communicate without having to use words or for artists like Olga Kolt, it is a way to examine what is possible.
Born in Belarus, Olga was sent to a boarding school to learn to become an artist and has continued to paint and draw for the past 30 years. Her classical training has informed her work but she has also constantly experimented and grown. Olga likes to transform something ordinary into something beautiful, to make people smile, to make them feel better.
She said works on her paintings until she can literally see a new world in the work to the point where she can imagine that she is inside the painting herself.
She believes the artist’s purpose is to transform the ordinary so we can see it in a different way.
