Rowena Mitchell

REM Jewellery is the creative practice of Fremantle-based contemporary jeweller and Gemmologist, Rowena. Working as both a silversmith and jewellery artist, she creates pieces that reflect a lifelong fascination with architecture, form, adornment, materials, and meaning.

Her studio sits tucked within a secluded garden, surrounded by an eclectic mix of antique and modern paintings, furniture, and treasured curiosities. Among the dense greenery, you’ll find tumblers, anvils, and forming stumps nestled like sculptural elements—tools of the trade blending naturally into the landscape.

Rowena’s passion for jewellery began in childhood with a silver charm bracelet gifted by her grandmother, sparking more than 40 years of collecting and appreciation. In 2008 she began formal training in jewellery making at Challenger TAFE, later completing a Diploma in Gemmology in 2014.

Continually expanding her technical knowledge and refining her craft, Rowena established REM Jewellery as her own dedicated studio practice. She now divides her time between the jewellery bench and caring for The Artisan Store Fremantle, nurturing both her creative work and the wider artisan community.
