‘When capturing images of an environment I like focus on the transience, fragility and resilience. I like to challenge the boundaries of traditional photographic landscapes, utilising naturalism while simultaneously abstracting photographic realism to explore the ephemeral nature of remote locations. Low tide at James Price Point reveals a stunning natural artwork. The contrast between the vegetation, eroded cliffs, red pindan dirt, white sands and turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean’.
Julie Kenny is an award winning photographic visual artist residing in Boorloo/Perth. Responding to the ephemeral nature of the environment, Julie captures aspects of its temporariness by documenting transience and fragility in her aerial imagery. Her works push the boundaries of traditional landscapes, as she explores naturalism while abstracting photographic realism within curated yet organic compositions. These conceptual notions prompt the audience to think differently. With a shift in perspective the known becomes altered and often unrecognisable with little manipulation or intervention.
