Assemblage Sculpture ‘Home’ by Vintage Perth.
Approx 15 cm diameter.
A woven coil of Dodder, a weathered crab net buoy, a fish bone and a feather come together to make Home.
Dooder is a parasite plant that kills its host and in turn the dodder will die, it is strangely beautiful as it weaves itself across the foliage of its host. First Nations people used it in the weaving of baskets now it is considered a weed.
The buoy is used in the hunting of crabs to keep the string of the crab net float whilst underwater. It is small and clever and strangely reminiscent of an egg.
The architectural beauty of a bone – the only remains of a fish, washed up on a foreshore.
The feather, iridescent beauty as it changes with the light.
They come together with all their histories and gather together to make a home.
