Red tailed cockatoos are named after the stark, scarlet panels on the males tail feathers. The tigersome plumage on the females tail have a pale yellow to amber red hue reminiscent of a sunset. In Noongar language, this beautiful bird is called Kaarak, named after it’s black feathers.
