King Protea (Protea cynaroides)
A striking flowering shrub, the king protea is known for producing the largest flower head in the protea family. Its bold, layered bracts form a dramatic bloom often in shades of pink, red, or white.
It grows in the fynbos region on nutrient-poor soils and is well adapted to fire-prone environments, resprouting from underground stems after bushfires.Â
