Jennifer Sulaj is an Australian-Albanian Artist-Art Therapist.
Jennifer was working in the fashion industry in Melbourne until 1993 when she moved to Dunsborough to start her artistic journey.
She studied Art at Busselton Tafe and Edith Cowan University in Bunbury and Mount Lawley, Perth, graduating with a Bachelor of Visual Arts. Since then she has exhibited in both solo and group exhibitions located in Perth and Melbourne. Jennifer was selected as a semi finalised for the Doug Moran National Portrait prize in 2013 and has held eight successful solo exhibitions including the critically acclaimed Coeur Bleu show in 2014. She has been represented in several leading galleries.
In 2015, she graduated as an Art Therapist from Ikon Institute with an Advanced Diploma of Art Therapy. Since graduating, she has worked as an Art Therapist for the Marian Centre (a private hospital), the Cancer Foundation, The Red Cross and with people with dementia.
“Art therapy uses self-expression to heal trauma and hurt,” she explains. “Expressing themselves through art shows people how to create more freedom in their lives. Creative expression offers a genuine opportunity for self-healing, confidence building, understanding, clarity and more.”
She also has taught Abstract painting at Trinity School for seniors, Atwell Art centre and has private workshops at her studio.
Jennifer is based at studio11, at PS Art Space Fremantle.
