“The Green Man” original painting by Lynne Mettam.
Acrylic on Board,
18 x 25 x 1 cm
The Green Man, a small portrait in acrylic is taken from a (lost) picture I was given by a friend some time ago. I
believe at the time I was reading about medieval days in Europe and told a friend the tale of the Green Man who
was a man of the forests and featured in a story somewhere in the mists of British folklore, although my green man
is definitely more modern!
My oil, acrylics and mixed media artworks and paintings are a reflection of how I see the world and also is a great way for me to
relax! I love colour and use it to as much advantage in my artwork as I can. Because I study creativity on all levels I have taken
much inspiration from many other sources and have added this to my artwork/mixed media over the thirty five years of my art
making. My artworks have been sold to buyers in Baltimore USA, New Guinea, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Gold Coast and
Perth in Australia and also to Christchurch in New Zealand to name a few cities, and in the interim over many exhibitions from
Cairns in Queensland to Portsea in Victoria.
As another string to my creative bow I have also written and illustrated (in watercolour) two children’s books “The Bend in the
River,” in 1986 for Greenhouse Publications and “Mischief at Muddy Bend” in 1989 for Penguin Books. Both books were taken up
by Ashton’s Scholastics at the time of their publication, and so were included in all Primary School libraries in Australia and in our
National Libraries. I am now working on a sequel to these two books with illustrations in mixed media and acrylics.
