Daughter of Ra original painting by Lynne Mettam.
Mixed Media and Acrylic on Canvas
unframed, ready to hang
An Egyptian princess sits on a stone near the Nile and drinks from a golden bowl while her attendant waits to the side.
I took this from a drawing in a Viziers tomb on Elephant Island – a small island on the Nile River where many royals are buried. The Vizier was a high official of the Pharaoh and was mainly present at important events at court. For years I have loved ancient Egypt in all its splendour, artwork and history of the great dynasties. I put this piece together as a tribute to the art of the tombs that is becoming more interesting to artists of the world as the years go by.
