Textures of the Shoreline by Annette Appleby.
‘Textures of the Shoreline’ shows an abstract view of the landscape that occurs between the water and the land as observed from above as you walk along the shoreline. It evokes a collaborations of lines and textures with a myriad of shades of white. The interplay of these shades and textures along with the intricate textural patterns of the sea urchin shells that wash up on our shores set my mind alive with how to represent these levels of line, texture and shape. Representing these areas and levels with a range of media including poured acrylic, lino impressed paper and clay as well as beach sand mixed with acrylic paint to create authentic textures. The clay sea urchins were moulded from real sea urchins for this composition using twice fired earthenware clay.
This work is created onto a strong, professional wood, artist canvas.
