Fantasy Leaf art glass sculpture by Jo-Anne Maire.
Glass Leaf Size – Approx 14cm wide x 32cm high
Overall Height – Approx 30cm
Wooden Base – Approx 12cm deep x 28cm wide x 4cm high
A Unique, Handcrafted Process
This piece was made using the murrine glass technique. The artist places thin glass canes on a clay-covered metal plate. Then, she fires the plate in a 700°C kiln. The sculpture goes through this process several times.
Each round of heating allows the colours to fuse and shift. This gives the surface a deep, layered look. The technique takes time and care. However, it also leaves room for unexpected results. Because of this, every piece is truly one of a kind.
A Celebration of Nature
The shape of the leaf reflects Jo-Anne’s love of the natural world. Its curves and colours feel alive and full of movement. The timber base anchors the work, creating contrast and balance.
Thanks to its bold form and fine detail, Fantasy Leaf becomes a focal point in any room. It works well on a display shelf, console, or pedestal. Whether at home or in a gallery, it draws the eye and sparks curiosity.
