I was raised in the northeast part of Japan. A place where it snows in winter. I looked forward to spring during winter when I was there since once it came, all of the flowers bloomed at the same time. Plum, cherry blossoms, tulips and so on. After the flowers bloomed, fresh green trees would come out. It’s young and soft leaves would grow.
When I walked down the tree lined street, I always looked up and saw the bright blue sky peeking through the leaves. The sunlight hitting the leaves made them glint. Young leaves and tall trunks under the sky caving inwards towards the street.
The trees were called Zelkova. These trees are symbolic to my origin.
