Victoria Edwards
Victoria Edwards is a practicing artist and teacher based in Perth, Western Australia.
Born and trained in Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine, Victoria graduated from both art school and university before beginning a life lived across countries. Drawn to creative expression from an early age, she now weaves her experiences of Ukraine, Russia, and Australia into a practice rooted in painting and fiber art.
Several years ago Victoria began working with art quilts. What started as experimentation has become the heart of her practice: a fusion of painting, fabric manipulation, and stitching. She is drawn to the interplay of nature and texture, and to the quiet, human presence left in handmade work.
Using natural fibres, repurposed materials, and found objects, Victoria builds depth and narrative through felting, knitting, intricate piecing, and intuitive stitching. She experiments with scale, pattern, and colour.
Nature and animals remain a constant source of inspiration. In her semi-abstract compositions, borders soften, layers speak, and materials carry story. Through teaching and making, Victoria invites viewers to feel the dynamic relationship between nature and human touch
