Nicola Bessell-Browne started Patrick Design in 1983 after completing an Arts Degree from Curtin University, majoring in Graphic Design. She initially specialised in Graphic Design, Branding, Marketing, Illustration and Photography, and over the years this has morphed into Oil and Watercolour painting, Printmaking, Calligraphy, Icon Writing, Textile Design and Jewellery assemblage.
I love the process of matching different beads and findings into creative one off pieces of jewellery, from items that I have collected for many years, from around the world, in markets, op shops and from other collectors. From design work for the Fishing Tackle Manufacturing Industry, I am able to source Tournament Tested Multi Filament Stainless Steel Trace wire, covered in polythene, for threading the larger beads onto, ensuring strength, and longevity of the necklaces.
As long as I have a creative outlet in my life, then all is well, making unusual Necklaces has been a real joy, and this is complemented by helping to support other WA Artists and Craftspeople by working in the Artisan Store Fremantle.
My hobbies include farming, landcare, growing Olives for Oil, gardening and raising a small flock of Dorper Sheep.
