My process is playful and constantly evolving. There is a conscious intent to move away from perfectionism. I build up layers in my work by painting freely and spontaneously, often using my fingers to apply the paint and letting the colours run and move.
Colour plays a central role in all my work, with combinations emerging instinctively. The colour in my artworks is bold and almost audible in its intensity.
At the core of my creative process is the need to create beauty. I hope that depicting the beauty of the natural world will bring happiness and healing to the viewer; an antidote of sorts for the negativity in the world.
I have always created art in one form or another, but it was not until a few years ago that I began painting seriously and building a career as an artist. I developed an artist in residence project at the school I was working for and was truly inspired by the amazing artists that I had the opportunity to work with.
I had my first solo show at Kidogo Arthouse in 2014 and since then have exhibited in numerous group and duo shows at Kidogo, the Moores Gallery and the Heritage Centre. I have been a finalist in a number of art competitions and opened my own Etsy store in 2017.
I hope my art brings you joy!
