Beauty and time in the natural environment inspire me as an artist. Painting en plein air (outdoors) or alla prima (in one sitting), helps me to capture the essence of a moment and provides an opportunity for the painting to emerge, sometimes in a surprising way.
I like to pay particular attention to determining the focal point of a work and choose a palette that is equally reminiscent of the scene and provides some visual excitement.
My goal is for a viewer to pause and enjoy a moment of wonder, to punctuate and delight.
