Matthew Jackson has been a professional artist in Perth for the past three decades and holds a Phd in Visual Arts and a post graduate diploma in secondary education. Having worked for a number of years as a lecturer and tutor at ECU Mount Lawley and as a secondary teacher for at risk students, Matthew now dedicates his time solely to his art practice. Specialising in painting, his practice encompasses everything from portraiture through to political pop art and agitprop artworks. Matthew has exhibited extensively in Perth and has artworks in collections across the globe, most recently forming a working relationship with Stala Contemporary in West Perth. Matthew’s most recent body of work has been ten circular panels depicting personalities and characters from diverse walks of life, many who Jackson feels haven’t received the attention in mainstream media that they deserve. These circular panels, yet to be exhibited, have subsequently been transformed into good quality, educational jigsaw puzzles, a sample of which are available to purchase through the Artisan Store.
