Mark Dutton

Mark Dutton is a hobbyist Woodworker living in Perth northern suburbs. During some long service leave from his professional career as a Banker in late 2015, he took up Woodworking as a new vocation. After spending some time with his father whom is an experienced Woodworker, he caught the bug and spent much of his holidays learning the vast trade that is all things wood.

Mark’s work is mainly on a wood lathe creating small turned bowls and vases and of course pens. All products are hand made and created from locally sourced WA hardwoods like Jarrah, Marri, Banksia and Sheoak. When available rarer WA endemic species like Mulga and Red Morrel are used too.

More recently he has been combining the fantastic wood grains that appear within burls and Mallee roots with resins.

His next challenge is to experiment further with resins and wood on a larger scale and create some unique one off pieces for items such as large vases and lamps.

For an inexpensive and handmade WA Hardwood memento or gift make sure you check out his work in store.
