Kirsty Griffiths
Kirsty Griffiths is an artist who is largely self-taught, having done drawing and painting all her life. She has had many jobs, but her love of art is her main passion.
Born in Sydney, she grew up in Perth Western Australia, has done many illustrations, commissions and oil paintings and has recently started making her own merchandise such as clay jewellery and cards and has an online presence through her Etsy shop.
While Kirsty completed the Bachelor of Contemporary Arts at Edith Cowan University in Mount Lawley, WA as a mature age student in 2010, she had also studied some graphic design and fashion design at TAFE after graduating from year 12.
Kirsty also identifies as having a lived experience with depression finding the practice of doing art and being ‘in the moment’ therapeutic and satisfying.
Kirsty’s style of art is mostly realism, painting and drawing from photographs and life, landscapes, some abstracts, still life and has an expressionistic style.
Both the built and natural environments and native flora & fauna inspire kirsty & she uses a variety of different mediums, such as oils, acrylics, watercolours, scraperboard, coloured pencils and markers and ink on canvases and paper to name a few.
