Kirsten Shenton-Smith, also known as bicciart, is a Western Australian Artist living and working in East Fremantle. Kirsten has been drawing her whole life and is a full time exhibiting and commissioned artist. Since 2018 Kirsten has been working predominantly in ballpoint pen. This unique medium has challenged Kirsten to develop new drawings skills and techniques resulting in a new and exciting body of work including works in “Her ballpoint of view” solo exhibitions in Fremantle in 2020 and 2021. Kirsten is inspired by every day life, lights and darks, shapes and shadows and as a result passionately creates drawings of people, places, furry friends and everyday objects. Kirsten’s latest work includes the creation of a “biccture”. A part photographic print, part original ballpoint pen drawing. Predominantly focusing on but not exclusive to portraiture, “bicctures” are commissioned artworks giving a fun unique modern twist to traditional portraits.
