Jess Adaine

Jess Adaine is a self-taught artist, born and raised in Freo.

Growing up by the coast, her favourite time to be near (or in!) the ocean was when a storm was rolling in. Watching the powerful swell of the ocean, with wind whipping her hair and salty water spraying her face – this was when she felt most alive.

In fact, the easiest way to describe her art would be to call it ‘stormy’, with an intense and melancholic undertone pervading her work. As a young artist she is still exploring her practice. Currently she enjoys painting stormy oceans, eyes, and portraits. She usually works in watercolour and gouache on paper, or acrylic on canvas, although recently she has begun dabbling with egg tempera.

As an artist who is chronically ill and neurodivergent, she works at her own gentle pace. The space and support provided by TASF offers her the unique opportunity to showcase her work in a way that feels comfortable and harmonious with her creative practice.
