Euclay is an air-dried clay that I use. The main ingredients are dry eucalyptus leaves from Cinerea, Marri, Jarrah and Lemon Myrtle.
These products are pulverized and combined with other components with no cooking. Smooth and coarse clay can be prepared depending on the size of the particles. Euclay cannot be submerges in water.
Euclay is an amazing product, and is aptly named with the prefix “eu” referring not only to its Eucalyptus base, but also to the Greek meaning of “eu”: good or well. Some of its ‘good’ features are as follows:
– Euclay covers ceramic pieces and glass successfully. It also adheres very strongly to paper, wood, MDF, gesso covered boards, Hebel block, fabrics, Styrofoam, etc
– Euclay can be carved easily with a knife when hard. I have also created a formula that remains flexible after drying.
– Euclay has the lovely scents of natures elements. It would break down as wood and is environmentally safe and not harmful to humans.
Euclay comes in batches of 200 grams. Store air-tight in a sealed plastic bag and a glass jar to preserve workability. It can be painted with acrylic inks and paint – other paints, still to be tested.
