Gerda Shelsher has been a production potter for over 40 years, supplying numerous W.A and interstate galleries as well exhibiting in several solo shows.
Her animated ceramic animals are wheel thrown, then hand assembled and modelled. Her works are much loved and easily recognisable by her avid collectors.
Her journey into ceramics started in the late 1970s, completing a 4 year ceramic studio course at Forrestfield TAFE. This flourished into a life long love of working with clay and a successful career inspired by creating animals and creatures of all kinds from her Gooseberry Hill studio. Every piece is hand modelled and express huge personality with their expressions and stance from comfy cats to curious possums.
Gerda had retired five years ago and now in her 80’s has restarted again in 2020 and loving it.
