Originally from the small town of Ayr, located on the West coast in Scotland. I served my time as a carpenter joiner for five years before heading of on an adventure to Los Angeles at 21years of age with my partner Pauline who was only 17 at the time.
We quickly were up and running in our carpentry business and soon found ourselves working predominantly in the film studios ,the homes of Hollywoods rich and famous and for Valentino’s located on Rodeo drive.
Looking back now, it was such an inspirational ,educational and eye opening experience, at the time we didn’t see it for that but it has made me who I am today.
We returned back to Scotland in 1994 and renovated properties but couldn’t settle in with the Scottish climate, so after a few years were fortunate to be granted residency in Australia, we packed our bags and headed to Perth, Western Australia where I currently reside.
Again renovations were our passion and priority but I also started to create artwork and sculptures that I have always worked on in my spare time .
It was long hours but we worked hard and I had an exhibition back in 2004 at Little Creatures which was very successful and we sold quite a few pieces. We had pieces in one of Perths top interior designers shop ( Jacquie McPhee) and a few other art stores .
Tragically our working life came to an abrupt halt when my partner Polly of 26years was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. After caring full time for her, she passed in 2009, it hit me like a freight train and I verged away from life . I spent the first year raising awareness for women and Ovarian cancer then I took a downward spiral which I won’t go into ( too long a story for this page )
In 2015 I was fortunate enough to meet a very special person who has reignited my spark for life, something I truly believed would never be possible .
I’ve decided to devote my time to creating new art and my fire has been relit.
I love working with timbers and metal, there are so many different ways it can be used.
I hope you can get as much pleasure from my art as I do.
